    Bracken Theatre Company Announces Auditions for CLOSER

    The Bracken Theatre Company is holding auditions for Patrick Marber’s drama, “Closer” on Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 from 6:30-8:30 pm, and Saturday, May 10 from 2-4 pm. Auditions will be held at the Phoenix Performing Arts Center (old “Kurlanchik” building) at 409 Main Street in Duryea. Performance dates are June 20, 22 (location TBA) and 27, 28, and 29 at the Phoenix Performing Arts Center.

    Workshop Registration Announced at KISS Theatre Company

    KISS Theatre Co. is a nonprofit performing arts organization with the mission of educating, entertaining, and enriching the lives of young people through the art of theatre and dance.

    KISS Theatre is happy to announce registrations for their next two summer workshops. The first workshop will begin on May 28 at the CYC in Wilkes-Barre ending in productions of Seussical, Jr. and Pirates of Penzance, Jr. at Little Theater on July 18, 19 & 20. The second workshop will begin on June 15 at the Phoenix Performing Arts Center in Duryea ending in two productions tentatively schedule to be Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr. and Music Man, Jr. on August 8, 9 & 10. The workshops are open to all youth from ages 7-17. KISS will expose students to all aspects of theatre, including acting, movement, voice work, set design, and costuming.

    The Sherman Theater is pleased to announce a new partnership with Fernwood Hotel & Resort of Bushkill, PA. Fernwood Hotel & Resort recently signed as sponsor of a Corporate VIP Box at the historic Sherman Theater and supporter of the Sherman Theater Capital Campaign. The Sherman Theater is a 501c3 regional non-profit performing arts center dedicated to the furtherance of the performing arts in the Poconos and surrounding regions.

    Actors Needed for Emergency Preparedness Drill

    March 25th, 2008

    On Saturday, May 10 from 8am - 1pm the Allentown Fire Department, Allentown Health Bureau, Lehigh Valley Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital and St Luke’s Hospital will participate in an emergency preparedness drill. The exercise requires approximately 80 individuals to play the roles of victims who have experienced injury. Volunteers will receive a lunch voucher and will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

    Volunteers can be adults or children accompanied by parents or guardians. It is five hours of time that will assist the hospitals and first responders in being better prepared for emergencies.

    Lakeside Players Kick Off 10th Year with ‘Brit-com’ Fawlty Towers

    The British are coming! The British are coming! And they’re here to help The Lakeside Players celebrate their 10th anniversary.

    The community theater company, founded in the spring of 1999, will kick off its 10th year with two episodes of the madcap British sitcom Fawlty Towers on April 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13 at Lakeville Community Hall, Rt. 590, Lakeville (across from Caesars Cove Haven). Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. All tickets are $12. For information and reservations, call 226-6207.

    BTE’s Not For Everybody Series brings Beckett’s Happy Days to Bloomsburg

    The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble will present Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, March 26-30, 2008 at the Theatre Lab on the Bloomsburg University campus. Happy Days is the third installment in BTE’s new alternative “Not For Everybody” series, and will be directed by BTE Associate Ensemble Member Peter Brown.
