A Musical Whodunnit Under the Tent
One of the trademarks of Scranton Public Theatre has been their Mystery Plays. In the last 3 seasons audiences thrilled to the workings of Agatha Christie’s clever “Ten Little Indians” and “The Mousetrap”. This summer SPT will take that tradition a step further by staging a spoof of the genre, “Something’s Afoot”.
The Musical farce by David Vos and Robert Gerlach has been a favorite of regional and community theatres since its rather brief Broadway run in 1975. The Scranton production is under the direction of New York actress Maura Malloy. Malloy has assembled a talented cast of theatre veterans along with some refreshing new talent. some familiar faces in the cast are local favorites Agnes Cummings playing the role of the snoopy miss Tweed, Ted Anderson as the daffy Col. Gillweather, Warren Cox as rakish Dr. Grayburn, Paul WInarski as Clive the haughty Butler, and Eleanor Gwyn-Jones as Lettie, the saucy maid.
Musical Direction is by Linda Houck and set design by Michael Gallagher. The production will open at the Nay Aug Park Ampitheatre July 7th for a 3 weekend run. You wont want to miss this hilarious send up filled will murder, mystery, mirth and mayhem!
