    Actors Circle and NEPA Writers Collective are presenting 8 short plays from those submitted from the recent NEPA writer’s competition. They will be performed in the summer of 2006, throughout Lackawanna County: Dalton, Scranton, Jessup, Archbald, and Moosic. First performances will be at Nay Aug Park’s EVERHART Pavilion on Friday, July 14 at 7pm. Additional performances at Nay Aug Park will be held on Friday, July 28 at Nay Aug Park’s POOL Pavilion at 7pm.

    Admission is free.

    This project is supported by a Lackawanna County Arts and Cultural Grant, a program of the Lackawanna County Commissioners and the Lackawanna County Council on the Arts. More information on Shorts for the Summer:

    My Hands by Arnine Weiss

    My Hands is a dramatic monologue simultaneously spoken and signed. The piece invites the audience into the mind and heart of a professional interpreter through the hands and voice of two actresses.

    Patient History by Patricia Rokos Hennefoth - Comedy
    Directed by John Schugard
    A girl with a rather unusual occupation goes to the doctor to have her injury treated.
    Cast: Kimmie Wrazien & Joe Palumbo

    Biography by Joe Cetta. The play is a drama.
    Directed by Debby Panna
    The play is set in the early 1990s. It takes place in Henry’s home located in Los Angeles, California. Bob has been interviewing Henry in his home for sometime with the intent of writing Henry’s biography. They are coming to the end of the interviews and Henry is having second thoughts about the book.
    Cast: Henry Phillips - Star of stage and screens now in his 80s being played by Art Walsh.
    Bob Haley - Writer in his 40s being played by Joe Palumbo.

    If You Go into the Woods
    Directed by Tony La Russo
    A couple goes camping in the woods. the man has never been camping and is scared, the girl teases him about bears, and the result is a comedy.

    Room 401 by Angelina Glodzik
    Directed by Angelina Glodzik
    Two older women discuss the turns their lives have taken from a place they never thought they’d be.

    Breaking Story

    Cast: Linda C. Griffiths & Joe Palumbo

    Directed by Art Walsh
    Cast: Marilyn Rau, Suzanne Ford, Patricia Purcell
