The Northeast Theatre will audition the role of Gideon Bloodgood for its production, The Poor of Scranton, based on Dion Boucicault’s The Poor of New York, and adapted by John Beck. Bloodgood is an unscrupulous banker who, in his efforts to secure a future for his infant daughter, squanders the lives and fortunes of two generations of the Fairweather family.

The Theatre will see both union and non-union actors ages 40 to 55 with a strong background in classical theatre. Equity actors perform under the Small Professional Theatre Contract, Category 5 ($300 a week, pension, health, long distance transportation, and housing). Rehearsals begin October 31, performances run from November 15 to December 10. Most rehearsals for this production are after 6 on weekdays, and on weekends, for up to 34 hours a week.
