In the spirit of making the living stage accessible to everyone, The Northeast Theatre announces a new program of low cost admissions with Pay What You Can Wednesdays, and Cheaper Than a Movie Thursdays. “For a limited time, we will admit audiences for all Wednesday 7 p.m. performances in this special community offering.” explains producing artistic director David Zarko, “Patrons can decide themselves on the amount they wish to pay for their ticket.” Cheaper Than a Movie Thursdays, also at 7 p.m., feature a $5 ticket for everyone who attends. “It’s the cheapest — and the best — date in town.”

The Northeast Theatre is committed to bringing “entertainment that is also food for the soul” to as large and diverse an audience as possible, and they don’t want to price anyone out of the picture.

Not all Wednesdays have 7 p.m. performances, so those wishing to attend should visit the Theatre’s web site www.thenortheasttheatre.us or call the box office at 570-558-1515 for details. This is a limited-time promotion. Specially priced tickets are first come first serve and are only available at the door, so it is advisable to call ahead for reservations. Seating is limited and full houses are expected.

Going to New York to see a show can run $150 or more. Instead, The Northeast Theatre brings high quality, New York talent to Scranton for the bargain prices of $20 general, $15 for seniors (60 or over), and $5 for students (25 or under), and it offers more than 125 performances a year (on the average, one performance every three days) of seven plays, radio theatre, concerts, variety shows, and world premiere productions. Who says there’s nothing to do in Scranton?

Check the Theatre’s web site for a complete schedule of events. Regularly priced tickets may be purchased at the box office Wednesday through Saturday 3:00 p.m. until curtain, by phone at 570-558-1515, or online at www.thenortheasttheatre.us

The Northeast Theatre is an Equity theatre company its fifteenth season of production. Plays in the past year have included Over the River and Through the Woods, Lackawanna Rails: 100 Years of Life in the Anthracite Valley, Silent Lives, The Woman in Black, Lackawanna Rails: Women Who Work, Kringle’s Window, Rapunzel’s Song, Waiting for the Parade, and Operation Opera.
