Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the trial of all time beginning on Friday the 13th as the Bracken Theatre Company brings their production of Clive Barker’s History of the Devil to the stage. Under the direction of Paul Clisham, History of the Devil gives the audience courtside seats to the criminal proceedings of the world’s most notorious evil-doer. Horror author and filmmaker Barker demonstrates his terrifying talent in this eerie drama in which Satan and his demon Verrier construct a primitive court on the shores of Lake Turkana and transport a judge, lawyers, jurors and witnesses to debate the Devil’s guilt or innocence. Has he truly been responsible for eons of malice against humanity or is he merely a misunderstood angel who allowed humans to revel in their own baser instincts? Satan will have his day in court, and the jury will be forced to decide: should the Devil be condemned to earth indefinitely for his crimes or should he be allowed to return to heaven? The verdict is that this is one trial you won’t want to miss.
History of the Devil features a talented cast composed of theatre veterans and newcomers including Ryan Baran as the Devil, Kevin Costley as the Actor, Alicia Nordstrom as Verrier, Joe Palumbo as Sam Kyle, Warren Rosengrant as Judge Felix Popper, Chas Beleski as Milo Milo, Tina Cipollo as Jane Beck and Kelly Clisham as Catherine Lamb. The versatile ensemble, portraying a variety of characters during courtroom flashbacks, includes Joan Johnson, Donna Vojtek, John Sherrick, Hugh Gilmore, Tanya Gilroy, Kimmie Wrazien, John Puskar-Pasewicz and David Giordano.
History of the Devil runs October 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Showcase Theatre, 54 Tunkhannock Avenue, Exeter. Tickets are $12.00. Please call 654-2555 or 822-7106 for reservations or more information. Please note that this production contains adult language and situations.
