Broadway & TV Star to do weekend workshop for local Dancers, Actors & Singers…Open to the public!

On Friday December 1st, veteran actor/singer/dancer, Michael McClure will not only be speaking to local aspiring performers, but teaching them dance & acting classes and performing with them by the end of the weekend!

Mr. McClure has had a career that expands from the Broadway Musical stage to working both in front and behind the camera. His screen credits include General Hospital, The King of Queens, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Young and the Restless, Passions, Quantum Leap, VIP, Action and the films Quest for Camelot and The Brady Bunch Movie. On the stage, he has performed along side of such greats as Gene Kelly, Tommy Tune, Placido Domingo, Joel Grey and the Broadway casts of Rent, Phantom of the Opera & Ragtime to name a few. As a choreographer, he choreographed the Broadway tours of Gypsy & Sound of Music, as well as music videos for Vicki Shepard, which have appeared on MTV. As a filmmaker, he has directed, produced and/or edited over 300 films & commercials.
“Michael’s speech is a blend of information, motivational speaking and stand up comedy” says Christophe Masters of Paid Performers. We start on Friday evening with his speech and an in depth question/answer session. The rest of the weekend, there are musical theater dance & acting classes, auditions for a live, public performance on Sunday evening. Everyone who takes the dance classes gets to perform in the show on Sunday night…The auditions are for featured parts in the show and self contained vocal, acting & dance solos. “The chance for aspiring performers to work hand in hand with someone who has already been so successful in the entertainment industry is so valuable and we’re proud to provide this opportunity” adds Masters.
Paid Performers will be hiring workers for the weekend as well as dance teachers to assist Mr. McClure in the classes and rehearsals. Mr. McClure will be speaking at 7:00 on Friday December 1st at the Scranton Cultural Center. Admission is $10. per person and space is limited. Reservations for the talk and classes can be taken by contacting Paid Performers over the phone or via email.
Saturday classes are musical theater dance classes featuring original Broadway choreography:
10:00am - Fosse
1:00pm - Cats
3:00pm - A Chorus Line.
6:00pm - Auditions for Sunday’s performance
7:00pm - Acting class.
Sunday is rehearsal much of the day with a public performance at 7:00 Sunday evening. All functions will be at the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, located at 420 North Washington Avenue, Scranton.
