Auditions Announced for “The Vagina Monologues”
V-Day Wilkes-Barre 2007 is pleased to announce audition dates for its upcoming benefit production of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, The Vagina Monologues.
Written by Obie-Award winning playwright Eve Ensler, The Vagina Monologues explores the first-person accounts of different women’s experiences with rape, incest, domestic battery and everyday life and discovery. Ensler’s performance of these monologues across small towns, large cities and around the world sparked the global effort to end violence against women and girls. A group of women joined Ensler and V-Day was founded as a worldwide movement.Â
Each V-Day event performs its own interpretation of The Vagina Monologues and designs its own artistic presentation. V-Day Wilkes-Barre is looking for women who can express the written stories of hurt, anger, happiness, humor and sorrow. Auditions will be held on Monday, January 8th and Tuesday, January 9th 2007 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre, 537 North Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. Casting requirements are for 20-25 women over the age of 14; previous acting experience is not required.
V-Day Wilkes-Barre will once again join over 1,000 other volunteer efforts around the world to raise funds for local and worldwide organizations that help stop violence. Proceeds from V-Day Wilkes-Barre 2007 will benefit Domestic Violence Service Center, Victim’s Resource Center and the V-Day Worldwide Campaign. The production will be directed by local theatre veteran and V-Day Wilkes-Barre Organizer Christine E. Rock.
The one-night-only performance will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 8:00pm, at Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre, 537 N. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. All tickets are $25.00.
