PTPA Announces Auditions for “Proof”

Open auditions for the PTPA dramatic production, PROOF will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 6:30 PM at the J. J. Ferrara Center, 212 N. Broad Street, Hazleton, PA. Please use the Mine Street entrance. Drew Coffman will be the director.

In this recent Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Auburn, the drama focuses on the obscurity of love and the mysteries of mathematics. Catherine has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, Robert. Now she must deal with his death, the arrival of her estranged sister, and the attentions of her father’s former student. Above all this, she is forced to confront the most perplexing of all problems, how much has she inherited from her father - genius or madness?

Actors ages 16+ are encouraged to attend. Auditions will consist of readings from the script and various exercises. Auditionees should also be prepared to perform, from memory, a short dramatic monologue of their own choosing.

Performances are March 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18; rehearsals will begin in early February.
