Road to Warped Tour: First Round Finalists Announced

Last year the Sherman Theater, in conjunction with East Coast Independent, sent seven area bands to play select dates on the ECI stage at the international Vans Warped Tour. This year, the competition is already heating up and the Sherman has announced the first round finalists as:

ATRALEN: A rock/alternative/powerpop trio from Northeastern Pennsylvania.

NO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO SKA: Six piece ska band out of Stroudsburg, Pa.

NOTHING COMES FREE: A progressive pop punk/ska band residing primarily in the Poconos.

STASIS: Alternative / Rock out of Bangor, Pa.

THE ONLY SOLACE: Punk rock group located out of Effort, Pa.

Friday’s event at the Sherman pitted 12 area rock, alternative, and ska bands against one another for a coveted spot on the tour, with only five groups to advance to the finals on May 11. First round bands are judged primarily on stage presence, crowd participation, and performance.

Competing bands played for a crowd of 750 fans, each there to support their favorite local talent. Another battle of the bands, to be held on April 6, will advance four more bands to the finals.
