  • Auditions Announced for “The Fantasticks” at Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre

    Auditions for the final show of The Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre’s 2006-2007 season, “The Fantasticks” will be held at the theatre Monday, April 23rd & Tuesday, 24th at 7:00 p.m.

    Director Dawn Winarski says roles are available for actors aged 16 and up. With music by Harvey Schmidt, book and lyrics by Tom Jones this show became the world’s longest running musical. The classic story of two young lovers who learn about life as their meddling fathers plot their relationship, originally starred the late Jerry Orbach. Currently the show’s revival is playing to sold out houses in New York City. Those auditioning will be asked to bring a prepared song (please no tapes or singing acapella) and be asked to read from the script. Musical director for the production is Linda Houck. Show dates are June 1,2,3 and 8,9 and 10, 2007.

    El Gallo/Narrator — The handsome, brave narrator and the organizer of the Luisa’s abduction. Some light swordplay involved. Very “Pirate King” (Pirates of Penzance) like.

    Luisa — An energetic, idealistic girl with an active imagination. She usually has to dance a little ballet.

    Matt — An innocent, romantic, kind fellow.
    Role: Lead
    Age: 19-late 20’s
    Sex: M
    Voice: Baritone (high: G4)

    Bellomy — An avid gardner who wants his daughter to fall in love with Matt. Needs comic timing.
    Role: Supporting
    Age: Late 30’s to 40’s – 60’s
    Sex: M
    Voice: Baritone

    Hucklebee — An avid gardener who wants his son to fall in love with Luisa. Needs comic timing
    Role: Supporting
    Age: Late 30’s to 40’s – 60’s
    Sex: M
    Voice: Baritone

    Mortimer — The sidekick of Henry
    Role: Cameo
    Age: 25-up
    Sex: M

    The Mute — An observer who is a mime (non-speaking/non-singing role). Needs to be very expressive, move well & be very organized. Dancer’s welcome!
    Role: SUPPORTING
    Age: 18 & up
    Sex: F or M

    Henry — An elderly, exageratted thepian. Little to no singing involved.
    Role: Supporting
    Age: 50 & up
    Sex: M
