Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre is pleased to announce that auditions for the first production of its 85th Anniversary Season, West Side Story, will be held Sunday July 8 and Monday July 9 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre, 537 N Main St, Wilkes-Barre.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time - book by Arthur Laurents, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, music by Leonard Bernstein.
Director Dave Baloga, Musical Director Brenda Nighbert, and Choreographer Sean Harris are seeking teens through adult to fill all roles in the production. Those interested are asked to bring sheet music for the accompanist (no a cappella, please) and will be asked to read from the script and learn a short dance segment. An accompanist will be provided. You may contact Dave Baloga at DABALOGA3@aol.com with any questions.
Performance dates for West Side Story are September 8-9, 14, 15, 16, 2007.
