The Northeast Theatre Presents La Voce: Drinking Songs
LA VOCE, an ensemble of Scranton area singers directed by Dolores Dominick-Noll, will sing drinking songs from around the world as a prelude to The Northeast Theatre’s production of Prohibitive Standards on October 12th, Performance Space at the Hotel Jermyn, 326 Spruce Street, Second Floor, Downtown Scranton. Prohibitive Standards takes place in the grand ballroom of the Hotel Jermyn on the night Prohibition ended. The Jermyn was a meeting place for politicos, rum runners, vaudevillians, and members of the Scranton subculture; The Northeast Theatre’s modern commedia troupe, Zuppa del Giorno, joins with students from Marywood University’s Department of Theatre, and playwright Steve Deighan (author of Legal Snarls or The Law According to Groucho) to create a world premiere insanity, with music, vaudeville, radio, and acrobatics, that brings the denizen’s of the Jermyn’s glory days back to life again, as they revel in the end of an era.
