The touring production of Always . . . Patsy Cline, being brought to the area by Chenango River Theatre, will be presented from November 15 - 25. The production stars gospel recording artist (and former Miss America) Kellye Cash. Kellye is legendary country star Johnny Cash’s niece, and has performed throughout the country.
This funny and heart-felt tribute to one of country music’s legends features a cookin’ country band and over 30 Patsy Cline songs. Based on a true story, Louise Seger, an avid fan, meets the star in a Houston honky tonk in 1961 and strikes up an immediate friendship that continues through their letters until Cline’s tragic death in an airplane crash.
A truly entertaining evening of memorable music, the play features Kellye Cash as Patsy Cline. In addition to starring in musicals (Kellye starred for nine months as the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Branson, Missouri), Kellye has a well-established career as a Christian music artist and speaker. This tour marks her fifth turn at the role of Patsy since 2001.
Also starring in the production will be Cathey Sawyer as the ultimate fan, Louise Seger. Cathey is the artistic director of Greenbrier Valley Theater, the official state theatre of West Virginia. This production marks the third time in the last five years that GVT has produced Always…Patsy Cline as part of their season, with numerous touring dates as well, including their recent appearance headlining at the WV State Fair.
Patsy Cline will run November 15 - 25 (see exact schedule below). Due to early ticket demand for this show, Chenango River Theatre will use the Greene High School Auditorium, rather than its own 99-seat space.
