posted by Alan Waclawski on December 5th, 2007 in Auditions Share This

Worthington Players will hold open auditions for three shows on Sunday Dec 9 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at the Shawnee Playhouse. Needed are men and women of various ages. Tech and backstage help are also needed. These are all-volunteer productions.

    LIPS TOGETHER TEETH APART
    2 men, 2 women
    6 performances Jan 18 - Jan 27
Fri & Sat at 8:00 pm, Sun at 2:00 pm
    The Story:
On the elegant deck of a beach house, a brother and sister and their
spouses attempt to celebrate the Fourth of July. Through diversions of
food, show tunes, crossword puzzles, and charades, the four attempt to
find the meaning in their lives and loves. But as the complexities of
their intermingled relationships come to light in monologues unheard by
the others, they reveal a desperate sense of individual isolation.
This comic and incisive portrait of modem America is considered to be
the most ambitious and accomplished work by Terrence McNally, one of the
leading American dramatists still writing today.

    LOVE LETTERS
    1 man, 1 woman
*this show will be double or triple cast!*
    7 performances Feb 8 - Feb 17 and Valentines Day Feb 14
Thu, Fri, Sat at 8:00 pm, Sun at 2:00 pm
    The Story:
A unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of author AR
Gurney, “needs no theatre, no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no
memorization of lines, and no commitment from its two actors beyond the
    night of performance.”
Over a lifetime, letters are exchanged between two people who grew up
together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences.
As the actors read the letters aloud, they create an evocative,
touching, frequently funny but always telling portrait in which what is
implied is as meaningful as what is revealed.

    PRELUDE TO A KISS
    8 men, 5 women
    6 performances Mar 7 - Mar 16
Fri & Sat at 8:00 pm, Sun at 2:00 pm
    The Story:
A supernatural event tests a young couple’s love and commitment to each
other. En route to his own funeral, an elderly wedding-crasher asks to
kiss the bride. As he does, her soul and his magically exchange bodies.
Mid-honeymoon, the groom realizes he has married another person, and
must find the old man to retrieve the true spirit of the woman he loves.
Craig Lucas’ romantic comedy is a roller-coaster ride through love in
all its giddy, surprising, and conflicted glory.

Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required. Tech and backstage help are also needed.
