Angelic Music, Terrestrial Sojourn
Trained in Havana, Cuba at conservatory and friends since the age of nine, Eva Blanco, Giselle Pedraza and Daiyana Rodriguez banded into a musical group in their early teens. The instruments they each chose to specialize in created an ensemble of clarinet, guitar, and lute, and the ethereal quality that combination produces inspired the bishop of the Methodist Church in Cuba to dub them Angeles en la Tierra, Angels on the Earth, and further to encourage them to begin to tour. They’ve been together, and touring Cuba, Pennsylvania, and New York ever since, but recently in a nod to their new language, English, they have come instead to call themselves, Cuban Tres.
Now students at Marywood University, they have performed on campus at several venues. They make their downtown appearance as part of The Northeast Theatre’s Spruce St. Cabaret on Tuesday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m.. Tickets are $10 and $6 for students twenty-five or younger, and may be purchased in person at the box office on Wednesdays through Saturdays after 3:00 p.m., or anytime by phone at 570-558-1515 and online at www.thenortheasttheatre.us.
