The historic Sherman Theater in downtown Stroudsburg will bring The New Riders of the Purple Sage to the Sherman’s stage Friday, June 6 in support of the theater’s Capital Campaign.

Known for their “psychedelic cowboy” music, New Riders of the Purple Sage draw their fans from country, jam band, folk and southern rock genres. Original members David Nelson (guitar and vocals) and Buddy Cage (pedal Steel) along with Michael Falzarano of Hot Tuna (guitar, mandolin and vocals), Johnny Markowski of Stir Fried and Jerry Garcia Band (drums and vocals) and Ronnie Penque of Ripple and Jerry Garcia Band (bass and vocals) come together to form the NRPS rebirth. Once called the greatest cosmic, psychedelic-country folk rock & roll band in the universe, this lineup of New Riders of the Purple Sage is certain to revive its legendary reputation.

Boris Garcia will warm up the stage for New Riders with their brand of folk/bluegrass-inflected tunes. Some have called Boris Garcia the future of acoustic jam music, expressing a common love of all forms of traditional American music – folk, rock, pop and bluegrass – in signature improvisations.

This performance will begin at 8 PM with doors opening at 7:30. Tickets are $23 and are available at www.shermantheater.com or by calling the Box Office at 570-420-2808.
