The award-winning Lakeside Players announce auditions for their fall production, the thriller Cliffhanger, by James Yaffe, on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Actors’ Attic, 114 9th St., Honesdale (above Spotless Cleaners).
Director Roxan Schwartz is seeking two actors: one young man (must look college age) and one woman (must look 35-45). The play will be presented at Community Hall, Lakeville, on Oct. 3-5 & 10-11. Rehearsals will start the end of August and will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights at the Attic and Lakeville.
Mingling suspense and humor, this ingeniously plotted thriller follows all the unexpected twists and turns that result when a mild-mannered professor of philosophy is driven to apparent murder to protect his reputation and career. A regional theatre success, the play was later transferred to Broadway for an extended run. Variety said the play “combines the warmth and charm of On Golden Pond with almost as many plot twists as Deathtrap.”
