King’s College will host two free public lectures by , a world-renowned advocate of abolishing the death penalty and author of the best-selling and Pulitzer Prize nominated book, “Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States,” on Tuesday, February 12.
Little Theatre Changes Schedule, Announces Auditions for Barry Manilow’s COPCABANA

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre must make a change to the schedule for the remainder of their 2007-2008 season.
Annie has been removed from the schedule and Barry Manilow’s Copacabana will be performed as the spring production. Production dates for Copacabana will be April 12, 18 and 19 at 8:00 PM and April 13 and 20 at 3:00 PM.

Fine Arts Discovery Series Hosts Traditional Dance Company

The Sherman Theater, located in downtown Stroudsburg, will host the African American dance ensemble Kulu Mele on February 10 as part of its Fine Arts Discovery Series programming and in celebration of Black History Month.
Since its creation three decades ago, Kulu Mele African American Dance Ensemble has established a national reputation as a unique and dynamic performing company. The longest-lived African Dance company in Philadelphia, Kulu Mele has built a repertoire that is an exciting blend of West African ancestral tradition and African American creativity.

This comic and incisive portrait of modem America is considered to be among the most ambitious and accomplished works by Terrence McNally, one of the leading American dramatists still writing today. On the elegant deck of a beach house on Fire Island, a brother and sister and their spouses attempt to celebrate the Fourth of July. Through diversions of food, show tunes, crossword puzzles, and charades, the four attempt to find the meaning in their lives and loves. But as the complexities of their intermingled relationships come to light in monologues unheard by the others, they reveal a desperate sense of individual isolation.

V-Day Wilkes-Barre 2008 is pleased to announce audition dates for its upcoming benefit production of “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer” to be presented March 1, 2008. A groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer” was edited by Even Ensler and Mollie Doyle and was commissioned by V-Day for the first V-Day: UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS festival which took place in June 2006 in New York City.
